Woke
up early to the sound of the crickets, birds and the cockerel! It is
exam time for the children in the senior school so many of them had
lessons today (Saturday). It was also ‘wash day’ for everyone
including the younger children who are either boarders or live in the
orphanage – Evelyn’s Home.
Had
a tour of the site, which includes Tower Primary School for the
infants, Bexhill Senior School, accommodation for the teachers,
boarders and dormitories for the orphanage plus the Medcare Centre,
which provides medical care for children from the village.

Day 4
Went
to church for 7 a.m. (Young people’s service) which is on the same site as the school. Ugandan time is very different!! People just kept
coming and coming after 7 a.m. they are never on time! The service
was in English but then they had an adult service at 10 a.m. for
people from the village which is in their own language of Lugandan.
The
younger children have their own service led by the older children.
They dance and sing to the beat of the bongo drums. The teenagers
also have a service on site, which they run themselves in a
classroom. They have organised their own choir and they also sing
and dance to the beat of the bongo drums!
On
Sunday the Ugandan ladies wear the traditional Ugandan costume which
has pointed shoulders. The children wear their Sunday best.
